Can I call myself an osteopath or chiropractor after completing a BSOMM course?
BSOMM’s courses provide a strong foundation in osteopathic and chiropractic techniques, which can be applied in clinical practice in many countries. However, the ability to use the professional titles “osteopath” or “chiropractor” varies depending on national regulations.
- In the vast majority of internation countries, yes, such as Argentina, India, Sweden, Asia and the UAE, these titles are not legally restricted, and BSOMM graduates can confidently use them within their practice in their practice.
- In a small number of regulated countries, including the UK, USA, Canada (certain provinces), Australia, and New Zealand, the titles “osteopath” and “chiropractor” are protected by law and require specific licensing or registration. In these regions, BSOMM graduates can describe their practice as Manual Therapists, Functional Medicine Practitioners specialising in using “osteopathic techniques” or “chiropractic techniques” but must not imply they hold a protected title unless they meet local regulatory requirements.
